auction quilt....

another hidden treasure....in my OWN house!!! jumpin jahosefer!
so remember a few posts back when i mentioned my auction purchases---well as i sit here tonight surfing other blogs (for 2 hours).... all of the sudden a light bulb CLICKS ON and reminds me i also had a quilt from that same auction. (i had 2, but gave one to my sister years back).
so i dig and rummage...and woah..... there she is!!! i wasnt sewing back then but have always loved quilts. i still cant believe i forgot about her....isnt she sweet?
even her flaws?? sigh........im going to gently wash her tonight and put her in my quilt cabinet.

"Bobbi" the builder

see this little shed above....this is how i spent my sunday.....clicking and locking and screwing. (get your mind out of the gutter)

my father is retiring as of the end of this week YEAHH DADDY!!! so he has started household projects. my husband hurt his back yesterday, so i got to do a lot of the work. lets just say men have no sense of following directions. If i handnt been the "foreman" of the project, who knows what this thing would look like. LOL

but it was a nice rewarding day. I am truly blessed when it comes to the parental department. they have always been there for me and they deserve NOTHING but the best from me and life. they have been married for almost 45 years, been through 2 daughters and still love us :)
I dont know where they find the love for us and our kids.......... but its never ending.

now i must go take a motrin and put lotion on my sunburn.....its tough gettin' dirty.

have a great week!

once a rocker, always a rocker

i know i know....ive been a little "absent" from blogging and sewing lately. but im BACK and rockin', literally. teehee (i still LOVE my hard rock music-its the 80s baby in me)

I have had this fabric for my oldest son for awhile. he is my music guy, my electric guitar player, my metal head. I reallllyyyy wasnt sure if he would appreciate a quilt....or even use a quilt.(warm blooded like his momma). then i found this light weight quilt above on clearance at target and decided to make pillowcases out of the guitar fabric. his room is mainly black furniture. (teenagers-what can i say)

ADDED LATER---i whipped up this big ol comfy pillow for my teenager too. hookem horns! just a big ol fleece pillow. no true shape LOL

i also have a few other projects im going to start working on today, finally! spring has been busy......hope you are all finding a little time to sew.

Friday night results

let me start by saying i didnt get anything done last night. i stared at fabric to try and put together the back for the quilt pictured below. after tooooo long, i gave up. i sat on the couch admitting defeat.....sigh....my night was a bust.

BUT, then i realized i had to stay up for curfew (no not mine LOL) so i started this little project.
(our hall closet)
this was a huge success. i began going through the JUNK in it and ended up with a completely cleaned out closet. room for some of my sewing stuff....pillows, fiber fill, pellon...and anything else i can fit in here. but the best part was yet to come.......
so while finding the bottom of the closet this morning, i came across these little hidden treasures!!! i had totally forgotten about them!!!!!!!!! 2 chenille bedspreads....... i want to cut up the white one and make a pillow with the flower portion. the mauve one.....dont know yet. its huge so i might cut it and use as a backing to a comfy couch size quilt. its in great shape. the white one is very worn on side.
I was lucky enough to aquire these chenille bedspreads a few years back at an auction in minnesota.....i think i paid 10bucks for a box of STUFF and these were both inside. i saw them sticking out, that is why i bought the box. i knew i would use them oneday....
remember to come back for our drawing tomorrow. remember, heidi and i both pick a winner for the FNSI giveaways.

a tribute to Granny

God has gained a true angel. Granny, who we have all come to know and love thanks to Valeries blog, has passed away. I am truly grateful that I was able to buy a quilt from her, which i will love and cherish for years to come.

To her family.....my sympathies. Thank you for sharing her life with us! God Bless you all.

potholder pass 2...

thank you ROBIN for my CUTE potholders!!! i love them!!! these are from potholder pass 2. i signed up for #3 and need to do something really fun and cute! maybe wonky stars? Heidi my sewing buddy got me hooked on wonky stars last week. they look fun to make.

ive had a busy week! havent been able to do much with fabric other than daydream at work about things to make. i also have a busy weekend, so my sewing will probably have to wait until our next Friday Night Sew-in. i did pick up a cute little gift yesterday for the giveaway...but im hiding it for now :)

make life...surprising!

my sister made me this adorable potholder on the left...which was mirrored after an OLD potholder our grandma made YEARS ago on the right (can you tell it was a well used potholder?). it looks like a pair of pants. i was definitely surprised!!!

its hard to see, but the stitching even looks like a zipper/button area on pants. she did a GREAT job. THANK YOU KRISTIE!!!
i also decided tonight i needed some fabric therapy. i already had some "make life" line by sweetwater/moda....but was waiting for the yardage. i already have a quilt design in mind and am doing some fabric laying out tonight. its so hard to plan and arrange fabrics. when picking out patterns, colors, schemes i tend to waste a lot of time. does anyone else have an over analyzing problem?
